EPK stands for Electronic Press Kit, an electronic version of a press kit. Artists used to send out hard copies of their press kits that included demo CDs/DVDs, information about the artist, photos, reviews and other marketing materials. The purpose of sending out a press kit is to share information about yourself or your group with industry contacts, such as Record Executives, A&R’s and concert promoters.

In the 21st Century however, most music industry professionals prefer an electronic version so they can just click a few links, listen to a few mp3’s and make a decision. This is easier for them, and also easier and cheaper for artists.

It used to be that an artist would have to pay for design, printing, CDs, photos, etc. And some people still pay others to make their EPK’s for them, but i did a little searching and I’ve found a site that will do it for free. Checkout EpressKitz.com fill out the signup page to get started!

So why make an EPK instead of just sending out all these materials? The reasons are many. First of all, printing and shipping are expensive, and you would need a physical address to send them to. The beauty of an EPK is that it costs nothing to have people view it, and it can be viewed an unlimited number of times by an unlimited number of people.

Now that you’ve got a template for your EPK, there are a few things you’ll want to include in it:

• Biography

• Music clips

• High resolution photos

• Tour dates

• Promotional videos

• Social media website links (Twitter, FaceBook, Myspace, etc.)

• Press reviews and interviews

• Contact information

The content can be as lengthy or as simple as you want. You can include anything you feel may help you get noticed and hopefully signed and/or booked for future concert dates. So get out there and start promoting your music!

Recording Booth:

Our recording booth has been specifically designed to reduce reverberation within the room and eliminate any external noise. It is what you would call a “dead” vocal booth. It measures 3 meters long and 2 meters wide (approximately 10 feet by 6 feet). A double layered window measuring 1.2 meters wide by 1 meter tall (4 feet by 3 feet) allows musicians in the booth to see into the control room and maintain communication through a talk back microphone. There is also a video screen in the recording booth, making it possible for the artist to see exactly what’s happening with their project.

Control Room:

The Control room has been acoustically tuned for increased accuracy when listening to audio material. This is very important when mixing and mastering because for a song to sound good both on the radio and in concert, it has to be heard clearly in a controlled environment such as this.

Providing the latest in digital mastering technology to make your project sound it’s best!

Scheduling:

All sessions are by appointment only, please call 905-361-5671 for questions or to schedule your studio time. All session times are subject to availability at the time of booking.

Rates:

The studio is booked in hourly increments with a two hour minimum for all sessions. All Recording, Editing, Mixing, Mastering and additional services are offered at $35.00 per hour during regular business hours (Monday – Friday 11am – 6pm), and $40.00 per hour for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

There are no additional charges for the use of specific microphones or equipment. An engineer is present for every studio session. We provide our clients with a CD of their project, at its current stage of development, at the end of each session. We find this helps keep everyone up to date on the progress of their work.

We also offer a reward system for the referral of new clients.
Here’s how it works: Tell a friend about Sound Resolve, and when they come in for a 3-hour studio session (or multiple sessions, totaling 3 hours), you will be awarded a studio credit valued at one hour! it’s that easy.
